During the past several years Great White Sharks have been sighted on a regular basis by the long range sport fishing vessels from San Diego that have been fishing for the large Tuna and Yellowtail that Guadalupe Island is famous for. The white sharks have been scaring the hell out of the fisherman when they surge up from the deep to take the fishermen's catch right next to the boat! There're some real monsters at this island. I was on an exploratory trip in Oct. 2000 and saw an honest 18 footer. The animal was huge. It must have been 6 ft. across at the widest part. We will begin chumming as soon as we get at the island. We will be using "hooka regs" (long hosed regulators connected to the boat's air banks) so you only need to bring your wetsuit/drysuit, booties, hood, gloves, ankle weights, and mask.
